ASU Reading Skills and Speed Reading Programs for Children and Adults
Programs are offered for children 4 yr of age and entering Kindergartners and for grades 1st through 12th, college students and adults. Tuition and material fees vary by program level. ASU Writers Workshop Application: High school students interested in growing as a writer this summer will also have an opportunity to get published in Canyon Voices, the online creative writing journal at ASU’s West campus! With the assistance of skilled faculty, students will discover ways to develop creative approaches to writing and to find their voices as writers.  

ASU Cronkite Sports Broadcast Boot Camp: Your students interested in sport journalism can participate in a summer program exclusively for them. This on-campus residential experience puts participants in the middle of the action covering professional sports teams. Students can register before April 15 and save $250.   
  
ASU Health Institute: 
The Summer Health Institute @ ASU is for students who are currently in the 11th grade that have indicated an interest in health/health care and ASU. SHI is for students who will be in 12th grade next year/plan to graduate May or June. During the institute, you will be able to experience a variety of health-related activities, including three hours daily of health care simulations such as suturing, IVs and intubation, at Creighton University School of Medicine at Dignity Health's St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and ASU’s Edson College of Nursing & Health Innovation’s Simulation Lab. You’ll also spend time interacting with professional health care providers and touring local health care facilities.

This year, Summer Health Institute will take place in July. The week of SHI takes place at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus. Participants will stay in Taylor Place residence hall during the institute.

Location: ASU Downtown campus

Cost: The institute is no cost to participants. Housing, food, materials, and instruction are free. The only cost to participants is their travel to and from the camp.

Banner Boswell Medical Center - Junior Volunteer Program
Banner Boswell’s Junior Volunteer program provides teenagers with the opportunity to learn more about health care and give back to the community and our patients. Junior volunteers work in dozens of roles in nearly all departments, including Pharmacy, our Child Development Center, nursing units and even at our coffee bar. The eight-week program is open to young adults age 14 and older. Applications are mailed to interested teens each spring for the summer program. Helios Scholars at TGen is the research center's flagship summer internship and research program for Arizona students pursuing careers in bioscience and medicine. Each summer, 45 Helios Scholars spend eight weeks working in TGen's laboratories, receiving one-on-one mentorship from TGen scientists as they pursue new discoveries about serious illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, infectious diseases and many types of cancer. These internships are open to high school, undergraduate and graduate level students. Northern Arizona University Andy Harvey Native American Broadcast Journalism Workshop
Only 20 students will have the opportunity to produce professional quality radio and television productions and work alongside the staff of NAZToday, Northern Arizona's only local news station, learning how to report, shoot and edit local news stories for a live broadcast.  First preference will go to juniors and seniors who complete the application and write a competitive essay. Perry Outreach Program at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopaedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments. Participants should be women in grades 10 and up with an expressed interest in science, medicine and/or engineering. We would very much appreciate if you could pass this information along to any high school principals, high school science teachers or high school students you may know. UA College of Medicine- Phoenix- Mini Medical School 3.0
A fascinating community lecture series open to the public.  Mini-Medical School 3.0 will host renowned experts who break down trending health topics for the Arizona community - ages 14 and up. This is a 5-week program for minority, low income, & first generation students interested in health careers. Students must be High School Juniors.

UA Center for English as a Second Language CESL will offer Intensive English language instruction for non-native English speaking teens ages 13-17. Students will improve their English, develop new friendships, and have fun learning a second language! Students learn and use English in classes taught by experienced, enthusiastic ESL teachers. Students are placed into classes by proficiency level and receive 4 hours of language instruction per day, Monday-Friday, in University of Arizona classrooms where all language skills are emphasized. Lessons and materials are designed specifically for teen learners. On Saturdays, the students attend recreational/cultural excursions in and around Tucson. UA Writing Skills Improvement Program The Summer Writing Institute for Writing and Thinking across the Curriculum is a 3-week long, competitive writing program for both native and near-native English speaking high school students and teachers. Participants will work together as a community of writers to develop basic skills, awareness, and confidence in writing and presenting. UA National Center for Interpretation The University of Arizona’s Professional Language Development Project (PLDP), hosted by the National Center for Interpretation, is a 3-week intensive program for Spanish/English bilingual juniors and seniors from Tucson-area high schools.  The PLDP offers training in translation and interpretation, introducing bilingual students to the values of their bilingualism and its many professional benefits.  PLDP students have the opportunity to work with some of the best professional interpreters in the country, as well as attend professional level presentations on weaponry, forensics, and areas that are important for court or medical interpreters. USC Students in grades 10-12 can apply to attend a University of Southern California 4- or 2-week summer program.  USC Summer Programs offer students a preview of "freshman year" through its college immersion experience.  Students explore Los Angeles as a laboratory for cultural learning beyond the traditional classroom.  Their programs are designed to combine college level course work, academic field trips, and structured extracurricular activities.  Students may visit summer.usc.edu for more information and instructions on how to apply.
